Hi. Just joined the forum. I've ridden/owned a bunch of bikes over the years, but never a Intruder 1400. Closest I ever got was a 92 VX800. Really enjoyed that bike too. This bike needs some love to get back on the road, but hoping I can make the project work.
I'll be asking tons of questions!

Welcome, I am sure the guys on here will be able to give you all the help you need.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

Seems you have a '97. There's a Brand New Tank available here:

Though the New Tank is a '96, I've owned both model years, and IIRC, the colors of the paints used are pretty much the same. Different pattern, but might be close enough for you.

thanks for the leads guys. I reached out about that other tank. I hate to have to strip and repaint it, but certainly like the idea of a good clean tank. Finding good ones so far is pretty rare.

Yes, these tanks are indeed rare.
Are you sure you'd need to repaint the New Tank? If the Paint Colors (red/black) are the same,... You might like the different Color Pattern on the '96 over the '97. I know I did.
