method for stopping rust?
I do not have a garage to keep my bike in and, lately, I have been noticing an accumulation of rust on my shiny parts. My question is, do any of you have a method deterring the rust from coming back after I clean it up again?

If you are talking the chrome plated parts, lots of wax will slow the progression of the rust, but there is nothing that can be done to totally prevent it, short of painting the parts.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

On the chrome, Turtle Wax brand Chrome polish and rust remover, will slow it down.

i am talking more about the not chrome parts. my chrome is already peeling, so I have to take care of that as well. I was thinking of wax.

I've used a hard paste wax with some success.

I hear you regarding rust! only way i can think of for sure is to get drastic, strip the chrome, powder coat. Im about to star doing this to my intruder. as the chrome looks crap.sure it may have been bling bling in 87 when my bike was made, but now it just looks dated, flakey and a pain in the arse. I have started a thread on electroplating and chemical cleaning in the bike chat section.

Ospho might work. It's a rust converter and can be gotten for 50$ a gallon at sherwin Williams. Ou spray it on with a spray bottle.

I have no idea how it will affect chrome though. I'm sure an email to the company will get you some answers

I have never tried it but have heard that something like this will help. Meguiar's M5032 Marine/RV One Step Cleaner Wax.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

WD 40 made for protecting standing missiles.
Or do what I do and make my own,, diesel and engine oil applied with a discarded kitchen cleaner spay.
Cheaper than a garage.

Nevr-Dull leaves a protective film on stuff. Seems to help.
