Coyote Gear Gas Tanks

Post by dm1400 »

I'm seriously looking into getting one of these tanks this winter.

http://coyote-gear.com/

I've seen them on a friends I hooked up with in St. Louis. He's got the 6" diameter x 12" length, it looks cool strapped on by his oil filter. He loves it & has had no issues with it - works great! I'm trying to decide between the 6" & 8" diameter. I want as much extra fuel capacity as possible, but I also want don't want it to look like a paint can strapped on. :lmao:

I'll keep you all posted.

Depending on how thick the wall, I would worry about punctures, especially if you ever laid it down and created any kind of heat or friction.

If it's solid, thick wall construction, just ignore me. Are you planning on plumbing it up to the fuel pump? Perhaps a reserve valve? In the interest of reducing strain on the pump, you may consider a more elevated mounting position, like attached to the sissy bat. Probably be easier to plumb as well, run it right along or under the seat.

tomorrow is our weekly bike nite. just a few friends. nothing spectacular.
i will try to remember to snap a couple pics with my phone.
is there a phone number i can use to send them as a text with pics?
otherwise it may be a while before i can find someone to show me exactly how to use those pic posting sites.

hey guys; i've got a question about secondary tank like this one. if the tank is lower than the fuel pump, the line could be full of air. is the pump supposed to be able to pump that air until it get some gas or it will just spin dry forever? a tank would be nice between fron wheel and the bike just over the oil filter, but that's pretty low. what do you guys think?

I have a 6" Coyote tank mounted on my Intruder. Really about the only decent pic I could find.. pay no attention to big doofus on the bike.

I considered going with 8", but there really isn't much room there. When you hit your brakes the distance between the frame and front tire decreases when the forks compress, I didn't want to chance it hitting a 8" tank.

I'm pretty sure it is a 6 x 10. It was listed as a 1 gallon tank, but holds 1-1/4 with a little room left. Depending on how I'm riding, it gave me an extra 40-50 miles of range. I will measure the tank when I get home this evening to verify the length.

14" maybe 15 can fit with just a tad clearance between jardine fwds.. 6 diameter would make 1.4 or 1.5 gal res.

Sorry it took so long, but I finally remembered to measure the tank. It's 6" x 12" and will hold about 1.2 gallons, but was advertised as 1 gallon.

12" was what fit on the flat area of the engine guard on my bike. Not sure what brand engine guard it is, but it is one of the smaller ones.
