Thank you
I would like to thank you for adding us to your forum.
We recently acquired an old 86 intruder 700. It is on the edge of being a basket case.
A good handfull of missing parts. It has some fire damage, not sure how it happened.
I know I will have a ton of fun with that. As the wiring and connectors are either charred,
burnt or melted. I am fairly mechanically capable, but i do and will have some questions.
Glad to be here.

Re: Thank you
Welcome - sounds like you have a bit of a challenge on your hands.
Don't rush it - ask as many questions as you want. There's a good deal of knowledge on this forum.

Re: Thank you
Welcome grandmalette ! Sounds like you have the all the skills you will need to tackle this Project Bike and with the experience of the Board Members here, you should have success.
About those wires,...having Relocated all the Electrical Components, Rewired Everything, added Four HID Headlight Systems and all LED Lighting on one of mine, may I suggest to look into buying a used Wiring Harness Complete instead of repairing the one you have. Not only will it save you Mountains of Time, it will be more reliable that all those repairs.

Re: Thank you
Thank you both.
Designer, probably sound advice. But since the bike is stripped down to just a motor and frame there is something i have noticed. The main harness is an issue. However, nearly every component is hardwired and connects to it. Replacement of the main harness is an easy out. But purchasing all the components that connect to it for replanement of the companion connector is a hefty sum. What be your solution for that issue?
Something I have yet to locate for the bike is a set of forward controls. Thus far not easilly located for a vs700. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome.

The basket case, 86 VS700
The bagger, 07 Kawasaki VN900D
And the beauty 02 Yamaha YZF600R
I have pretty high expectations for the 86 vs700 look forward to getting her running.

Re: Thank you
Wow, Photo Bucket really sucks these days.
There are much better photo hosting options available than that trash..
That's going to be a great project bike for you.
Fair warning...The Intruders come with very crappy soft hardware and screws and bolts can very easily be broken, stripped out and or cross threaded.
Be VERY careful with the hardware and when you do get the bolts and screws out, I'd highly recommend that you replace them with good quality hardware.
There have been SO many time I've seen in the tech section ppl complaining how the broke an exhaust stud or a clutch bolt for not taking time, paying attention or just thinking that little extra muscle will get it....snap!

Re: Thank you
Thanks for the heads up. So far so good. She is stripped down to just the engine in the frame.
Bothing broken yet. But I do have plenty of drill bits and taps if something happens.
