OMG 2018

Post by PCC »

Ya know the idea of hosting The OMG was to show the roads & fine eats here in the Ozarks.

Others are free to host a Rally in their part of the country.
*********************************************
This is the official OMG plan for 2018. Right or Wrong...

I am making the final decision and changing OMG back to the orginal date June 13 - 17, 2018.
I had to scrap the Campground idea. There were issues that I could not get ironed out so...

New Plan!

I have blocked off rooms at Motel 62 in Eureka Springs, AR.
Negotiated a Special rate...
Standard rooms with 2 queen beds (4 person) $59.
King Juquize room $69.

Free Breakfast & Wifi
Pool
Lots of room to park even if you are traveling with RV.
Fire Pit and plenty room to relax on site.
Pet Friendly
large dogs welcome $20 - small dogs $10.
(SORRY BEST I COULD GET)

http://www.theeurekaspringsmotel.com/eu ... lrooms.htm

Book now with your room preference.
48 hour before arrival cancellation policy.

Had a blast in OMG 2017

Lookin forward to it. Every time I move snow during the coming long cold ass winter I’ll be thinking about June and OMG!

So the dates are changed to June 20th through the 24th RIGHT??

And the venue remains the same also???? At the HUB?

Only need to know because my riding buddy works off shore and needs to know the exact date...

Dammit! For the first time I’m committed without reserve to an IA run. OMG has remained open to all and very much viable thanks to PCC! Don’t much care where or when, I want this to happen, anxious to meet many.

Yes sorry for the confusion... Deb & Randall have closed down for the season so I had intially thought with discussion with The Hub that initial dates were a go but when they check their actual resevation book left at the Hotel... they were booked.

So with much thought & research in what is the best venue... I still conclude The Hub is the best place for our needs.

The dates are June 20 - 24, 2018. Anyone is welcome to come in earlier or stay later. Just let them know.

hmm, OMG June 20th to 24th? That would make a good stop and time for a ride back to Duluth. Now as long as I don't make plans to attend I can probably swing it. It's when I make plans that something always shows up and messes it up. :bonk:

Is it true that the HUB is closing down and how will this affect OMG 2018?

The Hub Motorcycle Resort

5 hrs ·
..
There is an old saying that all good things must come to an end; it is with a heavy heart that we confirm that the HUB Motorcycle Resort and Scooters Restaurant are now closed and will not be reopening. Randal and I want to convey our love and appreciation to all of our loyal friends and customers, and employees, some who have been with us all 12 years that we have been open. What a wonderful journey this has been! We will always cherish the memories that we have, the lifetime friendships we have made. But the time has come for us to take some time for ourselves, to get out and ride and do some of the things we have always wanted to do. Who knows, you may see us around in your neighborhood sometime next year!

I hope your trip to Ozark Mountains Gathering 2018 will be another fond memory and I thank those attending for taking the time to ride and visit the region.
*I have for your convenience & upon request Arkansas and Missouri maps.
* All rides & routes are your choice. Please ride at your own risk!

Itinerary
Note: Hotel serves Continental Breakfast daily or you are free to obtain breakfast anywhere of your choice.
However, remember kickstands will be up at 8:00am.
Evening Dinner will optional & your choice in & around the Eureka Springs‘ area.

June 13, 2018
Arrive & unpack at Motel 62, Eureka Springs, AR (Plus Camping or other accommodations)
6:30pm A Meet & Greet Supper at Forrest Hill Restaurant http://foresthillrestaurant.com

June 14th
Ride thru Eureka Springs, with block after block of one-of-a-kind shops, boutiques, historic hotels and unique bed and breakfast inns, and rustic cabins.
If there is interest we will ride toward The Golden Gate of the Ozarks before heading onward on MO 86 and via a date with the Peel’s Ferry.
Lunch at Ozark Café in Jasper which is over 100 years old (est. 1909) that features unique antiques plus walls adorned with photographs and newspaper articles of people, things and places of a time long gone while serving some mighty fine food. Ride back thru the beautiful Arkansas country side with an evening relaxing around the pool or fire pit at the hotel.

Historical Tidbits…
Peels Ferry, A transport ride across a beautiful section of Bull Shoals Lake. The Ferry is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. They used to be a lot of ferries in the state. They had names like Spring Bank, Toad Suck, Guion, and Moro Bay. Peel is the last one in operation by the State of Arkansas. Sam Peel was a storekeeper who got permission to operate a post office back in the late 1860's. The name of the town was Needmore, but Sam Peel named the post office after himself. The town changed its name to match that of the post office, which is just as well since there are two other towns in Arkansas named Needmore.
The town of Jasper, sitting right in the middle of one of the most scenic drives in the nation. Scenic 7 runs from the Louisiana border to Bull Shoals lake near the Missouri state line, passing through both the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains.

June 15th
8:00am kickstands up… for a four state ride toward quaint towns such as Noel, MO & sites along US Route 66 thru Oklahoma, Kansas & Missouri.
Don’t forget your camera for the once in a life time photo opts.
Lunch will be at a popular 50’s style Diner Iggy’s
https://iggysdiner.com
Then a scenic ride back to relax and visit at our accommodations in Eureka Springs, AR

June 16th
A leisurely ride down scenic 23 “Pig Trail” towards one of the best burgers & pies places you will ever experience. “ The Oark Café & General Store.”
Or… an alternative route if we are wanting a shorter ride… see map links...

Then we will meander back scenic Arkansas to an evening of good friendship and conversation at our accommodations

June 17th
The day of departure for some and for those that can stay… a day of relax and informal ride about Arkansas. No specific plans.

Sorry once again. Found out today I have to drive my mom from here in Tx to Ct. in Sept for a wedding. So, that pretty much is gonna kill any funds I might've saved up. But as they say, Family First,,, :hellfire:
