Ok silly question but does the brake lever switch have a fuse or a relay.
I tried jumping the switch and got nothing.
No brake lite and no sparks.
Am i missing some thing.
There is a "u" shaped piece of copper and a spring in a holder. Should it have a little ball too.
1400 brake light switch.

If you have no light when jumping the switch, but the rear brake switch works I would say that one of the connectors, probably inside the headlight housing, has come loose.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

The foot brake lights work fine.
The hand brake does not.
I will try again.
Does the u shaped thingie go long ways in the slot or
sideways?

Re: 1400 brake light switch.
I don't have one, took it off years ago and the wiring into the head lamp.
If some one is close and I want to use a bit of front brake I dab the foot brake to give them a bit of brake light.

I don't have a picture of it, but the U shaped piece goes so that the curved sides of the U are moving side to side, if it is installed the other way the edge will catch on the 2 contacts that stick down.
On my 87 the plastic pin that the U shaped piece sits on broke and the thing never moved. Never worried about it.
