add what you like M/C only
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

BTW, they forgot to mention that Mr. Honda started out buying surplus generator engines and mounting them on bicycles. I read about that in an article on Honda's start many years ago.

I remember hearing that in a video about Honda. And he was inherently lazy and just wanted to make a quick buck

He was smart and the critics are his competitors.FallenAngel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 6:25 pmI remember hearing that in a video about Honda. And he was inherently lazy and just wanted to make a quick buck
He made a lot of money many years ago and continued to put money into R&D to make a better product.

Re: add what you like M/C only
How about a video on 2 strokes and their demise?

Re: add what you like M/C only
Nice video but he makes a few clanger statements. The one about why GP bikes went to 4 stroke as an example - more to do with the development ceiling reached in the 2 stroke format than anything else. And the one about 2 strokes not being responsible for smog? Well, maybe where we all live, but if you've been to any larger Asian city in the 80's compared to now you would have seen the difference first hand.
Nice video footage though - great to see the archive stuff

Re: add what you like M/C only
I learned to ride on a Harley Hummer, 2 stroke single, in 62/63. Between 64 and 82 I had Yamahas, Kawasakis, Suzukis.
My favorites were the GT550s. I owned 2 of them, a 73 and a 75. Rode the 73 all over the east coast, then transfered to Yuma and rode it all over the west coast.
I got sent to a school at El Toro in Santa Ana and rode the 550 over on a Sunday afternoon in August. Got to racing a Triumph Spitfire with a couple of girls in it. 115 deg when we went past El Centro at 90, At 100 they started droping back. Held it at 100 for a few miles and then slowed down. Motor never skipped a beat.
I still love the 2 strokes.
