Changing tires on your bike!

Post by Kingkoa1 »

So I changed my rear tire today, last time I changed my vstar tire I had a real hell of a time breaking the bead on the rear! I know most people would just pay$100 or 2 and have the shop do it but I could Barley afford to get the tires let alone pay to have them done. But anyways my friend showed me the coolest way to break the bead in seconds w/o breaking a sweat ! He drove over it with his truck tire and the bead popped real quick! Just incase anyone else has the same problem, try it you'll be so 😊 before that I was going to try it with a floor jack and strap! You tube is crazy lol

About 4 foot of 2X6 works real well. Place it so it is right against the rim and drive up on it with just about any car and it will break the bead. Really difficult tires require backing off and turning the rim about 1/8 of a turn a couple of times. Been using this method for over 60 years.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Don't forget to lightly grease the axle, and put Moly paste on the splines.
