Just got to 4100 miles since I last did my valve clearances. Was going to do them this weekend but spent the whole time chasing down connection problems. I have to go down south about 200 miles or so to see my parents and I'd love to ride but I won't have any time to get to the valves between now and then.
I guess I'm just curious how strict you guys are with the schedule with this or.any other regular maintenance.

Go ahead and ride. If you properly tightened the locks, there is probably very little change in the clearances. When I last checked mine, only one had changed more than about 0.001", and only just slightly more, at that. As long as they aren't quiet, I'd say you're good for another 200 miles.

Yeah. I definitely still hear them. But when it's all said and done round trip I'll be at 500-600 miles over the recommended servicing. Just wasn't sure how bad that is since I usually try to keep up on everything.

I readjusted mine once at 4500 miles.
Checked again at 10000 and they were fine.
Then rechecked every winter after 8000-10000 per year, still fine.
I'm at 99000 now and have readjusted only twice.
Go Ride.

As long as you keep the idle rpm above about 1000, so the top end doesn't starve for oil, there is very little wear in the valve train, once the initial break-in is done.
