Change to a Synthetic oil or blend in a 2002 vs800. Or stick with mineral. Thoughts, opinions!

Intruders were designed to run on basic detergent oils, viscosity dependent on ambient temps. Where I live I can get away with running straight SAE 40 Pennzoil diesel engine oil. 1400's need a multigrade with a very low winter base because of the hydraulic lifters.

Synthetic = plastic. Both man made. Navigator has an odd sense of humor but the guy is nothing short of a saint. Ok, maybe that was too much. He’s a helluva guy though.

A good synthetic can transfer heat out of the engine a bit faster. Enough to make a difference? Probably not in a V-twin. It also clings to the surfaces a bit longer, so engines not run every day, or even every other day, will have a bit less start up wear. Is it worth the extra $$? Up to you. Blends, OTOH, are often less than 5% synthetic, so are WAY overpriced for what you get; the MSDS will indicate the approximate amount added.
