Where is the Darkside forum

Just went to the Darkside about 3 weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. I put the BF Goodrich T/A radial on and have put about 1200 miles of which half was towing my trailer. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I had to stop quick and was amazed at how fast it would stop me while towing the trailer. All I can say is don't knock it until you try it.

PM Yo and see if he is willing to add one especially for our DS brothers and sisters. He is quite amenable.

Right -- I need a new DS for vs1400.

I bought 3 when Goodyear stopped making my VW Beetle tire - but - now they are all used up (30,000++ miles each).

I REALLY want a TALLER tire than stock.

?? suggestions ??

I don't remember the stock height, but I am running a Yokohama Avid Envigor in 195/65 and it is supposed to be 25 inches. The 205/65 is 25.5 inches, and only 4 tenths of an inch wider, gonna try it next time.

The Envigor is the best handling DS tire I have EVER used. Works well, wet or dry.

I will never again use a DS tire that isn't a directional tire. Every time I have tried a non-directional it has felt squirmy in one direction.

I've got approx. 15,000 0 20,000 miles on my Altimax HP, 195 65 15. Great riding & handling tire. I'm sorry Altimax quite selling the HP. What are people using now instead? I'm no where's close to replacing mine, but curious what is being used by others now that the HP isn't available.

Back in the 20's the race car drivers used motorcycle tires and shellacked them on the rims....

Now we run the car tires on motorcycles...

Try to keep up with the changing times...

Well, for one thing they outlast the bike tires 3-4 to 1.

Last summer I was running the 1400 trying to keep up with my son on his hayabusa on the twisties in Oregon. Couldn't keep up with him, but not because of the handling, just not enough power/speed.

Herb,

Look at this idiot running a car tire on a bike. You would think he would know better but nope. I guess it was the way he was raised.

If I ever manage to get out to the east coast again, with a bike, we will see if we can't hook up.

This summer I have a week ride planned with my son and a friend of his.

Still trying to get the house we bought last summer the way we want it. The cold weather her kind of put things on hold, now that it is warming up I am working on the house. Got a lot to do yet.

Frank-Tire-NUT is that a Vance and Hinz two into one on your 1500? Looks like the one on my 1700 Star. I have never rode a dark side tire yet but would not mind one.

ok, here's my problem with a DS tire. I can't get the beads to seat properly, add to that the fact I can't find anyone willing to put enough air in the tire to pop the bead over the lip holding it back. :bang: I guess the next time I try to pt the tire on I will use the trusty WD-40 and see if that works better than the Dawn dish soap. I think I used WD-40 the last time and it seated with just 70 lbs of air in the tire instead of the 110 lbs I normally used. :bonk:
