fuel lines
Hi all, I am planning to replace the fuel lines that comes out of the gas tank to petcock, has anyone replaced them with aftermarket hoses?, the reason I ask; the hose have a goose neck bend where it comes out of the gas tank, mine is kinked I think it is causing starvation, the bike is 2000 intruder 1400. any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Fuel lines deteriorate over time. The OEM ones under the tank are prebent and can get pinched easily if not careful when reinstalling the tank. If you suspect yours of being past it, you can use OEM or generic lines. If you use generic lines, buy some anti-kink sheathing to fit over them before install.

Sounds like the 1400 is more complex bc of the kinking issue. I replaced the fuel line on my '93 800 and just used fuel lines from AutoZone.

It has two fuel valves and complex routing under the tank. The 800 only has one line between the two carbs, one to the pump and one to the petcock. All nearly straight shots. If you can't find that anti-kink jacket, a relatively stiff spring slid over the line at the bend will help, if the bend isn't too abrupt.

well I ordered two Oem hoses, meanwhile I clipped the soft ends and cut a section out and replaced with fresh one also replaced the fuel pump, I started up runs good I have not ridden it yet, I am hopping that I solved the problem of starvation, for some reason the pump was running none stop so I replaced the pump now when I push the started button it pumps only five or six seconds and stops, so I guess I had a bad fuel pump also, all is good for now happy riding all.

I had a mechanic for my vs1400 who was excellent.
Unfortunately, he retired.
Have not been able to find another who is even OK.
But to the point of this thread::
I was replacing my stock rubber hydraulic clutch and brake lines.
Ask him if I should do my gas lines also.

Just unbolt the petcock at the tank and turn it 180 degrees. Spin the filters inside the tank around also while you have it off.
Then use 2x straight 5/16 fuel line from the 1st petcock to the 2nd petcock that's below the ignition switch.
I added a inline fuel filter also.

To drAlloway.. If he is still living and in the area.. BRIBE HIM with some extra pay... Our head mechanic at our dealership retired but had a shop at his house.. Used him for years until his shop burned down with all of his tools and gear inside..

The Intruder 1400 has petcock also on the bottom of the tank. Can this be turned around
so the lines come straight out of the tank, . ? I bought new fuel lines from my Suzuki
Dealer that are ethanol resistant ,They are made by motion pro.

Ok ,.So I am gathering that you can turn the petcock underneath the gas tank 180 ° . And
and change the fuel lines accordingly,

Genius, I was looking to replace my cracked fuel lines too but dreaded the potentially hard to find or expensive part. This makes it SOOO much easier!
How is it done? Drain and remove tank, use an allen key and unscrew the petcock, rotate, and screw back together? what about the pickups?
