Can I still hang around if I get a
2012 Kawasaki Vulcan® 1700 Voyager. I'm looking for a newer bike and saw this one online being sold at a dealer in OKC for $11,450.00. I'll need to look up and see if I can put a DS tire on it first.
But this one is more in my price range at $3,995.00.

Re: Can I still hang around if I get a
I just noticed the Vulcan is belt drive. Not that it really matters all that much. I'm just so used to checking and changing the oil on the shaft drive once a year and forgetting about it the rest of the time. I'll also have to check on a hitch for whatever bike I end up getting. So it looks like I'll keep the 800 until I find a bike that I can hold up with no trouble (bad knees), that won't cost an arm and a leg to put a hitch on and one that has fairly cheap maintenance. But then I'm also just looking to see what is out there right now. [emoji2]

Better stay away from the Voyager then....that thing weighs in at 886 pounds and that's dry weight.. whereas the 900 weighs in at 595 lbs...big difference when it comes to bad knees...
And don't be scared of the belt drive......they for the most part good for 100K + miles

Re: Can I still hang around if I get a
Hey Johnny thanks for the tips. When I go looking in person I plan to sit on and lean the bike over a little to see how top heavy they are. Once in a great while I even have trouble with the 800, but that only happens when I'm not paying attention to what I am doing and tired from a long day.
The reason for the looking for a different bike is twofold. One is the 800 has over 128,000 miles on it, just getting broke in , and the other is my future, I hope, calls for me to take longer trips with a sleeper type of trailer. While I have all the faith in the world in my little 800 it does have a lot of miles on it and pulling the trailer does put a slight strain on that motor. I'm hoping for at least 2 or 3 more years of riding, but with my doom and gloom attitude I don't see it happening. That would be why I am trying to move into the motor home on the land at Eufaula. The handi-capped lady I am buying the land off of will live right next door and has at least a years worth of can goods if not more. oops, got off topic.
I guess you could say I need a bigger bike in case I happen to run into someone that wants to sit on the back and that ain't happening on the 800. I have a friend in my hometown I could get an older wing off of for almost nothing but I tried holding my brothers wing up and those things spread your feet out and are heavy. So I'm not even going there. In my mind I need something in the 800 to a little bigger range. And if Frodo can hold one up then I should be able to also.

I just had a crazy idea from reading Frodo's thread about getting rid of his bolt. It was the reply about trying the Burgman... yeap, I like the 650 Burgman and it will pull the trailer with no problems. Time to get off my ass and do some test rides. [emoji106] [space] As an after thought I might as well check out that VStar 1100.

As are you Lechy. I do wish I had the guts to do what you have done. Maybe if the Hillary gets elected I'll come over for a visit. We'll just have to wait to see what the future has in store for me. In the mean time good luck in all you do.

Re: Can I still hang around if I get a
I was in an email conversation with a salesman from Fl about a Burgman 650. I told him I had a trade in with a 128,000 miles on it, what I could afford a month, that I was on 65 and on SS and lived in Okla. He asked me to fill out an online loan app and I took a look at it, but it asked for way more info than I was willing to give concerning a loan, especially online. So I can safely say that fell thru. I mean why would they need my checking account number, my saving account number and my DL number. Ok, maybe I can see the DL number to see if I have any tickets, but I could have told them that and if I lied then turn me down once they find out the truth when I get there. They needed addresses going back 10 yrs (I think it was). Al they really needed was my SS number to run a credit check and if it was within their limits then do a further background check.
