Spring Has Finally Sprung
Hey guys. Just figured I'd share my elation from this weekend since we're finally thawing out here in the northern latitudes. Got to almost 60 here in Michigan yesterday so I fired the 800 up for the first time this year. I didn't really expect any issues, but since I had done so much soldering of connections I was worried something wouldn't work. The bike fired right up as if it had been running all week instead of sitting in the garage since November. All the lights and switches were solid. I did have a moment of panic when fuel started shooting out the front because I had absentmindedly forgot to close the front carb float bowl drain from earlier in the winter. Also, after several years of doing it getting that rubber fitting connecting the rear carb-air filter is still a huge pain in the ass. Unfortunately they're calling for possible snow on Saturday, so I'll still need to be a little patient, but I'm waiting on some new tires at the local bike shop anyway. Regardless, it just felt damn good to hear the motor going and know my novice electrical skills didn't fuck anything up. Looking forward to another summer out on two wheels.

Yeah, it is finally warming up here but we have more storms on the way this week. supposed to rain, but that isn't a real bad thing because it isn't snow. The trees here are starting to bud out and some of my wife's flowers are blooming.
I have been ready for spring since October.

I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Congrats on getting your bike up and running.
I too am looking forward to the riding season, now that 'mud' season has passed.
For the rear air snorkel, get a mechanics pick like this one, dull up the point so you don't poke a hole in the snorkel. [emoji106]

Yeah, thankfully I have one already. It does help, especially with getting the front part over the lip, but it's still a bitch to get on. Haha

What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word "spring"?

It's always in the darkest and most cluttered corner of the garage.

Man you have better luck than me. It's either between my feet, or gone for good. Not often in between.rocksandhammers wrote:Herb wrote:My first thought was "Where the hell did that little sucker go?"FallenAngel wrote:There has got to be a fracking tool for this???Herb wrote:What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word "spring"?

Glad to hear you are in the wind.
