86 Intruder 700 ignition switch assembly PLEASE HELP!!

Post by Gumshoebelly »

Hi! I'm really hoping someone can help me out with a picture of the inside of the ignition switch assembly on an 86 Intruder 700. Some A**hole tried stealing it when i was out of town and i don't have $200 for a new one. I have some soldering and splicing to do. I'm not sure if I can fix it but I have to try. I live in Alaska and the riding season is short, I don't want to miss more than I have to. I would just like to see how the inside looks so I have something to compare it with. This board has saved me so many times and I'm hoping it will again. Thanks!

IIRC, the back plastic part of the switch bolts to the cylinder for the key.
Taking it off exposes a flat set of contacts, which can be cleaned with a pencil eraser.
The other spring loaded contacts stay with the cylinder.
If the Ahole cut your wires, splice and solder them back into place.

Its the handlebar assembly switch. The ignition is fine . I have the key. They just messed with the start switch wiring.

If the guy messed with the external wires, shouldn't it be a matter of splicing/soldering them up following the color coding of the wires?
