Cleaning carbs 2002 intruder 800

I got my 02 intruder 800 a couple days ago.i need to clean the carbs. I dont have a manual. But i have done similar things.it looks like they are in a tight space. Will i need 2 kits? Where do you guys order parts

Does the bike run? If so, maybe all you need is to treat a tank or two with a good fuel system cleaner, like Techron, Seafoam, Berryman's B12, etc.

Did my 2 carbs using straight Seafoam for my bike that was sitting for year and a half. Was a little gummed up and tarnished, drained old fuel from both carbs, added straight seafoam and let sit for a day. Repeat that for 2 days. Added fresh fuel with recommend seafoam and it ran. Think I got lucky but I know everyone situation might be different. I too also haven't found a full carb kit. Might just have to piece it out I guess or I'm looking in the wrong place.

Most carb components are re-usable.
The screws are soft and may need replacing wen you strip the heads.
You may need a new float needle or seat, but if its not overflowing, you are good to go.
Examine the slide diaphrams for tears.

If you get a good JIS type screwdriver set before you attempt to take them apart, you may not damage the screws, since most are stripped by Phillip's drivers. Also, you can usually replace the screws with socket head screws, so Allen wrenches may be used, and the problem goes away.

That's good to know, thanks. I'll try to find some O rings, and float bowl gaskets since they a rubber and the bike is 20 years old.

Yea! I did end up striping one of the phillips heads while trying to take off the float bowl but Did manage to free the screw. Allen head screws like you said is the way to go!!
