Cdi Box Relocation

Post by SFD213 »

So i wanted to remove the back seat and sissy bar from my 95 Intruder 800, so i did. Bow i have to figure out a place for the CDI box because it looks out of place on the top of the fender. Doubt putting it under the fender is smart, anyone have ideas or experience with this?

Not that I recommend it, but most switch to pod filters. It gives you a place to put the CDI under the seat.

Whole lot of work, just for looks.
Current rides: 03 HD FLHT & 01 Yamaha XVS650(BIP)
Former: 87 Suzuki VS700, 94 BMW K1100LT & 91 Honda CB250

I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

Haha. Yup lots of work but man pods make all the difference. If you cut the air box just right you can hide all of that extra electric sh*t under your seat.

If you are going to fit pods, look here for what I did:

All bikes are slightly different so fine tuning would be up to you, I found that covering the foam with a pair of cut down sport socks helped.

The ignition box is mounted to the bottom of the seat.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Herb, on the 800's the igniter box is bolted in a recess on the rear fender.
