Vstar 950 mods

Post by Digger »

I got a great deal on a demo bike at the motorcycle show 2 years ago. It's a 2013 Vstar 950 tourer.
I rode it stock for the first year. Slowly added to it and made the following changes.

Enlarged the front pulley to reduce the rpms in top gear by 500 rpm.
Added Vance & Hines slip on exhaust plus Cobra air intake and fuel management module.
Tachometer, engine guards, highway pegs, Kuryakyn grips with throttle boss.
Gel seat.
Memphis Shades lowers.
Kuryakyn run turn brake controller
Clevver clutch lever.
Grasshopper driver backrest

The horsepower gain was amazing. Thing runs as smooth as silk now even at higher speeds but is a little slower on the takeoff due to the larger front pulley. And of course, more horsepower means more fuel so the gas mileage dropped accordingly but having a faster noisier bike is the trade off.

I test rode one, stock. I liked it. It could have had more noise, but I found it ample at highway speed. YRMV
Current rides: 03 HD FLHT & 01 Yamaha XVS650(BIP)
Former: 87 Suzuki VS700, 94 BMW K1100LT & 91 Honda CB250

I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

I had a 2010. Nice bike, but a bit of a bus. Stock tires were godawful. You've done some good things to that bike. [emoji106]
