2019 CAJUN HOG RALLY
Posted: Sun Apr 14, 2019 6:59 am
Left Thursday morning headed to Lafayette, La to attend the regions first HOG rally of the season....Dubbed the " CAJUN COUNTRY HOG RALLY".
And to my way of thinking was a complete success, although the activities for Saturday were curtailed a bit because of the impending severe weather forecasted for that area.....
Only one ride was scheduled for Thursday but at least 100 bikes showed up for the ride
Friday there was 4 guided rides headed in different locations with rides leaving every 30 minutes starting at 8:30 am
and the last ride start time set at 10:30 am.. a limit of 50 bikes per ride was set by the rally officials ..
And something like 12 different self guided rides...........
Every ride was packed to the gills , in each town that we went through the local police provided a escort so we weren't encumbered with red lights
I went on the Easy Rider ride....
.
the ride retraced the actual sites made during the movie "EASY RIDER",
starting with the shooting site on the levee on the southern Atchafalaya river levee
Then on to the restaurant site in Morganza,La....the actual building is no longer there but a replica bill board was erected for the rally..
I'm in that picture...just under the cokeacola sign on the right....just a shot of my white haired head
Everyone was taking snap shots f themselves in front of the facade.....no way I was gonna get a pic with no one posing in front [emoji2]
..there is also a plaque near that site with the description
here's a few shots that I took in different locations and at the rally headquarters..
The chow line in Morganza....the locals went all out to welcome us ..true Southern Hospitality was prevalent every where we went
There was a $20 All you can eat crawfish on the menu....they lost a ton of money with a few Cajuns present [emoji106]
This Cajun Sweetie wanted her picture taken
God Bless her sweet pea picking heart..
All total there were 27 HOG Chapters represented during the Rally....The furthest Chapter was from Indiana..a 1000+ mile trek...
The whole Gulf coast was represented from Florida to Texas and beyond to Arizona .........
Number of the attendees have not been published yet but my conservative estimate is 1,000+ bikes and maybe 1,500 total attendees
3 1/2 days of hard riding...the most I've rode in nearly 3 years
