If I remember correctly these hornets are the ones that will kill off a bee hive by stationing at the hive entrance and killing every bee that tries to get in by biting their heads off. Bad dudes for sure.. Now as for aggressive wasps.. don't mess with the Southern Red Wasps... They love to build their nests over water or on small bushes and when disturbed launch a full frontal attack like killer bees do. If you can see one stay away, especially over water since you "ain't" got "no" place to go... but under the water for a long, long time.. ask my brother. He had so much duck weed on him when he came up he looked like the "Creature From the Black Lagoon." What happened was my mom and dad were in their canoe while Joe and I had our own canoes. We heard a big ker-splash and then didn't see Joe whereupon I paddled over to his empty canoe to check on him... About 25 yds from him he yelled STOP... WASPS... I do learn very quickly. He had hit a nest with his lure ..... now that was a bad cast. Dave
