Where will you be on August 21?
[emoji2] Maybe some of you already know about this, but I was just reading about the TOTAL Solar Eclipse that's going to sweep across the US in August. Not very often you get a chance to witness this rare event. Total. Solar. Eclipse.
Check it out by clicking the link below...
And here's an interactive map from NASA so you can check out your own location during the event...

SInce I work for the railroad I will probably be on a train. Not in the area of totality, but it might get dark enough to give us a minute or two of conversation.

Kentucky TV stations are making a big deal and say the darkest spot will be in western Ky. as the map shows. It gets dark every night so will not be scared .When we went to Alaska a little more dark would have been nice.Guess go six months later and more dark and cold.I have seen all the wild bears I need in a life time and have no future trips in the plans to the far north again on the motorcycle.

It'll slice through the western corner of North Carolina, southwest of Asheville. Maggie Valley would be a nice place to be anytime, but I'll be at home listening to a Bonnie Tyler song and settling for partial eclipse. [space] [emoji106]

That's on a Monday so I would have to take the day off just to get there. I don't know why they plan these things on a week day...

I'll probably be out riding and think it's just another cloudy day.

So a few others are going to the darkside, huh? You'll all go up in a big ball of fire.

I've got a spot picked out thanks to this post! [emoji106]
Taking the day off. It's about 3.5 hours away. I picked a spot out in the middle of nowhere to avoid the crowds flocking to the towns. With my luck it will be cloudy or something but we're giving it a shot...
Got my camera ready... [emoji2]

Already know this? I've been WAITING PATIENTLY FOR YEARS!
I will take a day off, and drive up towards Columbia, MO to see the totality.

I was thinking more like up NW of Columbia, but that works too [emoji106]Cuban wrote:Excellent! Hope you have a great viewing. [emoji106]JFL Live wrote: I've got a spot picked out thanks to this post! [emoji106]

You know you don't LOOK through the hole, right? You hold the punched card out in front of a piece of paper, and point the hole at the sun. You'll get a shadow image of the eclipse on the paper.n-trude wrote:peeking through a pin hole in a piece of cardboard.
Or you can do what I did, and order some viewing glasses. They are cheap and you'd be able to look right at it. Or if you know a welder, borrow their helmet. But it's gotta be a #14 or darker shade.
