10 Fastest Cruiser Motorcycles

Post by Suzuki Johnny »

Now I do know that some of you are going to list your favorite fastest cruiser that's not on the list, but that's what the article has posted..
So go ahead and add your sweet cruiser ride to the list that was somehow omitted from their list.

The words "cruiser" and "speed" rarely belong in the same sentence. After all, cruisers aren't built with speed in mind. Cruisers have long been synonymous with their laid-back riding style, heavy build, comfort, and iconic aesthetics. But the modern generation of these machines is quite different. There exists a breed of cruisers that blend the best of both worlds - the comfort of riding a cruiser and the high-velocity thrill of a sports bike.

As the demand for speedy cruisers continues to grow, more and more motorcycle manufacturers are jumping on board. Whether you're a die-hard fan of American-made Harley-Davidsons or prefer the sleek Japanese designs offered by Yamaha and Suzuki, there's now a wide range of options available to choose from. Whether you are after top speed or bursting off a red light with incredible acceleration, these are some of the fastest cruisers money can buy.

How We Got Our Models Selection: The ten fastest cruiser motorcycles for this list were curated by analyzing top speed and 0-60 figures of cruiser motorcycles. Top speed was given priority, and we have also included some very powerful cruisers out there (including both currently on sale and discontinued models). Through this process, we could curate a list of the most high-performing cruiser motorcycles, perfect for those looking for the ultimate combination of speed, power, and style. This article is laid out in increasing order of top speed figures.

People think cruiser bikes are built just too slowly cruise on the highways, but these cruiser bikes pack a mean punch that can sometimes match a sports car.
Honda Rebel 1100
Top Speed: 100 mph
Speed rarely comes cheap, except for the Honda Rebel 1100. By effortlessly reaching speeds of close to 100 mph, the Honda Rebel 1100 is one of the quickest cruisers for under $10,000. Rather than going along the traditional cruiser route with chrome, the Honda Rebel offers a fully blacked-out style, with blacked-out engine components, forks, frame, and other bodywork.

Powering the Honda Rebel 1100 is a 1,083cc four-stroke parallel-twin. The engine has a narrow build and delivers torque all the way from idle to the redline with some extra grunt on the low end. With a seat height of just 27.5 inches, the Rebel is comfortable and easy to ride. The bike also comes equipped with cruise control to facilitate comfortable long-distance rides.

Suzuki Boulevard M109R B.O.S.S.
Top Speed: 110 mph
Suzuki entered the world of power cruisers with the M109R, also known as the Boulevard M109R. As is typical of Suzuki, the M109R boasts a unique and distinctive style. The sleek, elongated body tapers down to a chubby rear tire, giving the bike a powerful stance. It also features slash-cut mufflers, drag-style handlebars, a solo seat cowl, and a distinctively shaped headlight.

The chassis design isn't exactly the best for quick, sharp turns, but it offers stable and predictable handling when cruising. At the heart of the M109R is a substantial 1,783cc V-Twin with some of the largest pistons in the industry. The engine is tuned for quick acceleration and low-end torque, which peaks at just 3,200 RPM.

BMW R 18
Top Speed: 111+ mph
The BMW R18 is a Berlin-made cruiser, but it's built in the traditional American style. The bike features a teardrop tank, an exposed driveshaft, and a double-loop steel tube, which exudes the timeless elegance seen in vintage cruisers.

Despite its appearance, the BMW is not a relic from the past as it is covered from top to bottom with state-of-the-art technology. It's got a range of electronic aids, cornering ABS, multiple riding modes, and traction control. The beating heart of the BMW R18 is a unique 1,802cc boxer engine with opposing horizontal cylinders. Indian Scout Rogue
Top Speed: 120 mph
The Scout Rogue offers the rider a sporty cruiser feel the moment you take a seat. It comes with a solo saddle and a mini-ape handlebar borrowed from the Bobber Twenty. The handlebar is designed to place the rider's hands just below the shoulder, providing an aggressive cruiser riding position.

With its 19-inch front tire, the bike offers both an aggressive riding position and improved handling. Unlike the other models in the Scout lineup, the Scout Rogue features a quarter fairing around the headlight.

Powering the Scout Rogue is a 69 cubic inch liquid-cooled V-Twin. The engine comes with electronic fuel injection, which helps the Rogue achieve class-leading numbers in terms of power. The bike is also surprisingly light for a power cruiser weighing just 545 lbs road-ready.

Harley-Davidson Sportster S
Top Speed: 137 mph
Harley-Davidson is a company that is built out of cruisers. For over a century, the company has put out iconic cruisers on American highways, and the Sportster S is Harley's take on a modern sports cruiser. There is nothing fancy about the design of the Sportster S, with elements of a bobber-style cruiser mixed with minimalist lines and a muscular stance. This design helps reduce the bike's weight and make it nimble so riders can confidently navigate twists and turns on the road.

The main event is undoubtedly the 1250T revolution max engine. This engine uses smaller valves and ports and a different combustion chamber shape than the engine equipped with Harley's famed Pan America 1250. These small changes give the Sportster S some extra torque at low and mid-RPM.

Honda Gold Wing
Top Speed: 143 mph
Honda announced the revival of the Honda Gold Wing for 2023, and the return has been nothing short of extraordinary. Honda offers the Gold Wing in four different trims, all covered with state-of-the-art technology to make your rides comfortable and enjoyable. The bike features a spacious and ergonomically designed seat, adjustable handlebars, and footpegs to find the optimal riding position for long rides.

The fairing and bodywork also offer the most comfortable ride possible, as they actively work on shielding the rider from being bombarded by the wind when riding at triple-digit speeds. A horizontally opposed, six-cylinder, four-stroke engine allows you to achieve those triple-digit speeds. Despite weighing over 800 lbs, this engine can get you from 0 to 60 in approximately 4 seconds.

Yamaha V-Max
Top Speed: 143 mph
The V-Max is a motorcycle that has been in the Yamaha lineup since 1985. From launch until 2007, the model only saw minor updates. The 2009 release was completely redesigned before hitting the streets of North America, India, and Europe. The new models featured a 1,679cc engine in an all-aluminium frame. The engine is a liquid-cooled V4, one of the most powerful engines you'll ever see on a cruiser.

The more you twist the throttle, the more power the V-Max generates; it tops at 200 hp. This power is enough to do 0-60 in under 2.6 seconds. Despite falling into the cruiser category, the V-Max can give any sports bike a run for its money.

Triumph Rocket 3 R
Top Speed: 145 mph
The name Rocket is not an exaggeration. Triumph calls the Rocket 3 "the ultimate muscle fighter" due to its blend of incredible performance, stable handling, and distinct looks. Despite its massive size, the Rocket has an adjustable rear suspension and 47mm Showa upside-down front forks for increased handling. Half the bike's design is the engine. The massive engine is basically sticking out of the frame with the exhaust pipes of the three cylinders converging to form a distinctive exhaust system along with a sweet melody as it fires up.

The 2,458cc in-line three engine in the Triumph Rocket 3 is one of the biggest engines in a production motorcycle. Not only does this engine break records and produce exhilarating numbers on paper, but it's also a blast to ride.

Ducati Diavel V4
Top Speed: 155 mph
The Diavel V4 is the updated version of the previous Diavel 1260 with the V-Twin. The new Diavel veers away from the traditional cruiser norms with its aggressive styling and high-performance engineering. It combines the performance of a sports bike and offers the comfort of riding a cruiser. The funky tail light, visible four-exit exhaust, handle-mounted turn signals, and distinctive LED headlights with the daytime running light make the Diavel a head-turner on the road.

A 1,158cc V4 Grandtourismo engine powers the Ducati Diavel V4. This is not the same engine you'd see in the Panigale or the Street Fighter, as the Diavel engine focuses on mid-range performance and usability rather than top-end performance. That being said, the V4 can still produce 168 horsepower and 93 lb-ft of torque.

Harley-Davidson FXDR 114
Top Speed: 120 mph (Limited);160 mph (Without Limiter)
The FXDR is a dragster in the form of a cruiser. The bold and aggressive lines, coupled with the minimalist bodywork, contribute to its drag-inspired design. The fat back tire accentuates the cruiser side of the FXDR, while the chopped-off rear allows the bike to stand out from the rest of the Softails.

The FXDR is not just about looks cause if you put it on a drag strip, the bike can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.5 seconds and a quarter mile in under 12 seconds. This is all thanks to the mighty 114 cubic inch Milwaukee-Eight engine.

Pretty cool list.

However, I have no use for any of them.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

The problem with these types of articles is they never seem to be able to keep the target in one lane. For example the goldwing isn't a cruiser, purposely designed tour models. Even in the trunk less model it's a tour with all the bells.
They did list some good ones, and the euro bike's are designed for speed due to the vastly different posted road speed's in Europe.

I think when it comes to bikes you want one that meets your daily needs for general commuting but has the ability to really go if you feel frisky. At least that's been my personal choice.
