An understanding of pH and photoperiod is very important in feeding your plants. Until June 21st daylight hours increase daily and during this time the vegetative stage for your plants calls for a minimum 6 pH in your soil. After the 21st of June as daylight decreases the blooming stage begins and the minimum pH requirements of your soil increase to 6.5. Be sure to read packaging of fertilizer as regards pH.

I put plants in dirt and they grow. 
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

A human child that is not properly nourished will grow but not as well as one who takes in good and sufficient vittles. With plants the quality of the dirt is very important as any farmer will agree.

Never bag your grass when you cut it and the soil will have plenty of nourishment.
