Just a little tidbit about the door locks. I have an Equinox that has automatic door locks. They don't unlock until it is put in park and if you are in a crash where you loose electrical power the doors are impossible to unlock from the inside. There is a key lock on the outside that the ignition key will unlock the door but if you are trapped inside you can't do anything but break a window to get it unlocked.

I bought one of those pinpoint hammers for breaking glass and keep it in the console.

think about it...

These work good to break glass as well, like when your car breaks through the ice.
Yea, we drive on the ice up here in the winter.

Just proves that less use of fossil fuels is NOT the goal.

This goes along with flying a bill all the way to the demented pervert's tropical vacation spot.

Another Elon Inferno: Tesla Mobile Supercharger with ‘Megapack’ Battery Bursts into Flames
LUCAS NOLAN5 Jan 2023

A Tesla Megapack battery on a mobile Supercharger caught on fire and burned down in Baker, California, on New Year’s Day. Tesla’s mobile superchargers are charging stations built on trailers. Unfortunately, they seem to be as prone to battery fires as Elon Musk’s electric cars.

Electrek reports that a Tesla Megapack caught fire and burned down a mobile Supercharger at a charging station in Baker, California, on New Year’s Day. The mobile Supercharger, which consists of a trailer fitted with a Megapack battery and several Superchargers, was being used to provide extra capacity at the Baker Supercharger station during the holidays.

This is the second recent instance of a Tesla Megapack catching fire. Breitbart News reported in September 2022, that a Megapack caught fire at an energy storage project in Monterrey, California.

A Tesla Megapack battery caught fire at PG&E’s Elkhorn Battery Storage facility in Monterey County, California....... A shelter-in-place advisory was in place for 12 hours due to fears of toxic smoke from the fire caused by Elon Musk’s battery system, with county officials announcing that even though the fire was “fully controlled” by 7:00 p.m. PT, “smoke may still occur in the area for several days.”

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, North County Fire Protection District, and Pacific Gas & Electric had all issued a shelter-in-place advisory for nearby areas, including an interactive map showing which areas are affected and closing roads for over 12 hours.

The incident in Baker will likely raise concerns about the safety of Tesla’s energy storage systems. Breitbart news will monitor the investigation of the fire and report on the findings.

Destroying the earth to save it???

https://www.patrioticviralnews.com/arti ... is-doomed/

...The one fad item that requires an order of magnitude more rare earth metals to produce than anything else is an electric car battery. Joe Biden and the Democrats are trying to ban gas-powered vehicles and force everyone to use electric cars, but this is a doomed plan. There aren’t enough rare earth metals to make enough batteries to replace all of our gas-powered vehicles.

And the rare earth metals are being mined by slave labor in the Congo and other places. According to Kara, who brings the receipts to back up his claims, there are more people living in slavery today because of the race for rare earth metals than at any time previously in human history.

Watch as Kara explains to Joe Rogan why this electric car fantasy is doomed, and why it’s causing slavery to continue to thrive in the 21st century…

Quite Right Herb. :space: As you and I have pointed out several times, this LIE that EV's are better for the World is exactly that,...A HUGE LIE.

The FACTS are Irrefutable.

Now we FINALLY see that officials are recognizing THE OBVIOUS about safety;

U.S. Official Airs Safety Concerns over Heavy Electric Vehicles
SIMON KENT 12 Jan 2023

The safety risks posed by heavy electric vehicles in any collision with lighter vehicles has pushed the head of the National Transportation Safety Board to issue a general warning to all road users.

The official, Jennifer Homendy, raised the issue in a speech in Washington to the Transportation Research Board. AP reports she pointed, by way as an example, to an electric GMC Hummer that weighs about 9,000 pounds with a battery pack that alone is 2,900 pounds — roughly the entire weight of a typical Honda Civic.

“I’m concerned about the increased risk of severe injury and death for all road users from heavier curb weights and increasing size, power, and performance of vehicles on our roads, including electric vehicles,” Homendy said in remarks prepared for the group.

The official noted Ford’s F-150 Lightning EV pickup is 2,000 to 3,000 pounds heavier than the same model’s combustion version. The Mustang Mach E electric SUV and the Volvo XC40 EV, she said, are roughly 33 percent heavier than their gasoline counterparts.

“That has a significant impact on safety for all road users,” Homendy added.

Reuters reports acting NHTSA Administrator Ann Carlson told reporters Monday the agency was studying the impact of vehicle size on roadway safety.
Carlson said the agency was “very concerned” about the “degree to which heavier vehicles contribute to greater fatality rates,”

And it is not just saftey either. The heavier the vehicle the more damage it does to the roads increasing the cost of maintaining them. Adn they pay now highway taxes.

Can anyone believe a 4 year wait for a new gas engine????

I think that Chevrolet should be forced to replace the car with a new one under the lemon law.

https://thefederalistpapers.org/us/ev-o ... 5B-MD5-%5D

An electric vehicle owner from rural Alaska found out that owning an EV is less than ideal when she was told it would take four years for her to get a replacement battery pack for her Chevy Bolt....

...recently she was told that her EV is the subject of a fire hazard recall that has affected around 140,000 Bolts....

...Atkinson is faced with a major decision. Does she continue using her car despite the fire hazard, or does she store it and be without a car for the next four years?...

Store it?
Don't store it in a wooden structure.
Place it far away from combustibles, wait for the bomb squad.

Haven't heard this on the lsm, have you?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... -2035.html

Wyoming is set to BAN sales of new electric vehicles by 2035 to 'ensure the stability' of its oil and gas industry
Wyoming is set to become the first state to phase out electric vehicles by 2035
The move, announced Friday, aims to preserve the state's oil and gas industry
The bill notes that Wyoming lacks a charging station infrastructure and is weary of the waste caused by used electric vehicle batteries that cannot be recycled

Just a side note here, anyone that has ever driven Wyoming, The distances there are huge, in many areas even gas stations are short supply. The winters can be brutal and will really cut down the range and overall battery life of an EV.

Oooo-Wee! :space: Will you just look at these "safe" EV'S? :Umm:
This ONLY makes good sense.

Fire Hazard: Norweigen Shipping Company First to Ban Electric Cars on Ferries
Amy Mek January 20, 2023

A Norwegian shipping company bans electric cars on its ferries. According to a risk analysis, such vehicles’ fire risk is too significant. An ocean liner had recently sunk because of it.

The Norwegian shipping company, Havila Kystruten, has banned electric, hybrid, and hydrogen cars from its ferries. After a risk analysis, it was concluded that the risk to the safety of the shipping fleet was too significant. If a vehicle catches fire, the fire can no longer be extinguished.
The risks for ships from the transport of Electric cars (EV) have been discussed since the “Felicity Ace” sank off the Azores, Portugal, last February. E-vehicles on board had caught fire. The fire could not be extinguished. Finally, the colossal ship sank with thousands of electric cars, including Porsche and Bentley “green” vehicles.

Capt. Rahul Khanna, global head of marine consulting at Allianz (AGCS), a marine insurance specialist, explains that the problem with EVs is that lithium-ion batteries in the cars can actually propagate the fire, igniting more vigorously as compared to conventional cars. A single vehicle fire could prove catastrophic.

E-cars are a danger for ship passengers

According to a report by the TradeWinds shipping news service, Havila’s Chief executive Bent Martini said the risk analysis showed that the fire in an electric car required a particularly complex rescue operation. The crew on board could not afford this. Passengers would also be at risk. This is different for vehicles with combustion engines. A possible fire is usually easy to fight by the ship’s crew.

After the sinking of the “Felicity Ace,” Greenpeace also warned against e-cars on ships: “In general, electronic components and especially electric vehicles pose a risk for every transport.”

Oh But!....EV's are the only future!! :space: :space: :fu:

https://republicaninformer.com/man-plug ... d-8-miles/

(Republicaninformer.com)- A man left his electric vehicle to charge for an entire week, coming back to find out that it only added 8 extra miles per day, according to The Federalist Papers. The Phoenix, Arizona resident reportedly charged his R1T, an electric truck manufactured by Rivian Automotive, Inc., and wrote to EV website InsideEVs.com to share his nightmare.

He told the outlet that the week-long charge had given the vehicle an additional 32 kWh, meaning that a total of 56 miles were added to its range.
