Lol just got off the phone with my mom and she is heading to the commissary. I am way too far from one or I would shop there also.

Eight degrees below zero at daybreak. It's a normal day.

Not here, yesterday was just getting the yard dried out and back to normal now today it is raining and the yard is soggy again. Biggest problem is when we let the dog out she makes her inspection around the perimeter where there isn't any grass and collects these massive clumps on her feet so we have to wash her feet each time she comes in. With all this caliche a few inches below the surface the mud gets real oozy and stays that way for several days, especially in the shady areas. Oh well, rain is good.

Put a kiddy pool by the back door to get the mud off?

Nah, we have an old dog water dish in the garage that we put warm water in and then dry her feet. She is too old to have to put up with cold water wash though I doubt it would be any colder than the mud and wet grass. We do have a kiddy pool that has sand in it that we keep damp in the summer so she can cool off. Figure she only has a year of two left, she is fourteen and sleeps most all the time.

Well it looks like everyone had a good day....

Son , daughter in law and myself played golf today.... we really had a good time...
They put us with a soldier from Fort Polk and we talked about how the Fort has changed over the years....I took basic training there at North Fort but it's mostly deserted now, all the activity is at South Fort... he did tell me that it's still called "Tiger Land", the nickname from the early 60's has stuck.

How many hours can you legally drive in one 24 hour period?

Used to be you could legally get by driving up to 20 hrs a day but would soon run out of hour under the 70 hour rule. I think the final version of the cdl hour of service has changed in the last 10 or 12 years since I last drove. Oh, and that was 20 hour of on duty time, not driving time. You need to allow for fuel stops, pre and post trip inspections, loading/drop and hook etc.

And all this has to be recorded in the log book right with time stamps?

Not when I was driving, you had to graph your day showing periods of rest, out of cab, non driving duties and driving time etc. All stops where annotated with either the name of the town, or milemarker etc. The companies I drove for had their log books all bound so there were 31 day per book. You even had to annotate home time so the police could check your progress and insure you weren't driving beyond your legal hour. I was reviewing the current requirements and it seemed to me they are a lot more complex than they used to be... or maybe I'm just getting older. :lmao:

Edited to state: No time stamps required.

I was wondering about that.... recent accident on the interstate had a trucker that had been on the road way over his allotted time....went to sleep at the wheel and injured a few folks.
The case is still pending but I don't know if he was released or not.
