Handlebars

Post by Jed »

I'm looking to switch out my handlebars on my 1400 intruder (96) I'd prefer zero pullback and want to go with something I can use stock controls (1") and wiring with. Any suggestions? Thanks

With 0 pull back you will really be leaning forward. I put clubman bars on with the stock risers and it was ok, but still a reach. I put on 5" risers with a 2-3" pullback and for me I found them great.

The clubman bars put my hands in a much more natural position.

Drag bars? I would suggest mocking up out of PVC and take measurements. That way you get it just right and don't go through several different bars you're not happy with.

Or just buy a bunch of different sets of Harley bars and go nut.

I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

But Harley bars riser spacing are 3.5inch 1/2 inch smaller than intruder. I'm currently looking at big johnsons and see how they feel

That's just the riser centers, not the bars. If you use bars that currently have risers built in, then yes, you can't use them. But if you just use the bars themselves, they fit.

I should know, I have a few sets lying around. I also have a set of Yamaha Double T bars that I used on my Intruder, that just don't quite feel right on my V Star. Those will come off in favor of mini apes.

If you want zero pullback, I believe Flanders sells a Broomstick bar.

I think Bronx Intruder sells some fat bars that fit stock controls.
