Forward Controls back to stock mids.

Post by Claudia »

I recently purchased a '95 Intruder that had been modified with forward controls. I would like to change back to mid controls and am having a difficult time locating the parts. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do you know what kind of forwards you have? Can you post a picture?

You may be able to find someone on here that wants forwards willing to trade.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

And there you go! :ShitGrinandThumb:

SgtCall's posted method is fool proof.

I took a closer look at your Bike Picture,....It looks kinda-like you have Jardine Forward Controls,...VERY desirable!

If so,. they can have a quite comfortable set of Floor Boards that get bolted in the Stock Foot peg Location. :space: Thus you could have the best of both things.

Is your intruder a VS800 or VS1400?

They look like this:

The bike is my avatar but it's not very clear. It's currently in the shop and the machinist said he could put stock mid controls back on if he could find them.

My bike is a VS800. I just called the shop where the bike is located and my mechanic's wife just confirmed that they are Jardine controls, though she said they have some pitting.

How tall are you? If you are anything over 5'9" I would leave the forwards for a bit and see if you grow to like them. Or add the floorboards like Designer mentioned.

That is a good looking bike that doesn't seem to need much. I love the black lowers on the forks, wish I would have done that.

You can find DIY seat covers on ebay if yours is starting to crack.

I don't know if it is on purpose but it looks like the mirrors are on the wrong sides. Maybe to get them higher up.

That's what I pretty much figured when I looked at your Avatar Picture.....(except of course, the pitting  )

As I mentioned, the Jardines are Quite desirable. I have them on my Springtail Chopper and love 'em.

What SgtCall says is advice from Experiences we see here on The Board. :space: Almost everyone seeks Forwards after owning their Intruders for a while. :space: Having dual foot positions makes for more comfort when Riding. :space: Might you consider added the Floor Boards to your Jardines to give you what you seek right now?

On the 800, the Jardine setup has a bracket that replaces the stock foot peg bracket. So adding floor boards to the stock position is not an option, because that "position" has been removed / replaced with the Jardines.
I'm unsure if you can install aftermarket floor boards in the Jardine foot peg hole.

I'm 5'6" and the forwards are kind of stretching it for me. I have owned an Intruder before and the stock controls were very comfortable for me, even traveling interstate.

eBay is your best option for a stock set-up

https://www.ebay.com/b/Suzuki-Footrests ... 3000&mag=1

There's a bunch in there with varying amounts of hardware so you might have to buy some things separately. No doubt you could sell your forwards and come out in front $$$ wise....

If anyone has a set of floorboards for Jardine forwards for sale, drop me a message, I'm looking to buy them.

Hey everyone! I finally got my bike back from the shop and was able to ride her for the first time yesterday.

The seat is a little ratty but I have a used but blemish-free Mustang seat on the way. (eBay, $200. Yay!)

Thank you to everyone for your help with finding the mids.
