Rocker arm covers

Hi there guys,

New on the forum (From Denmark) so sorry for the bad "engrish" sometimes

I recently had a misfire on my VS750 and it started to make a metallic sound. :Umm:
So I took the inspection caps of and started to trim my valves. After the trim i fired it up and i still had the sound :bang:
Ahh well, one more time. This time when i open the inspection caps to have a look at the rocker arms, I saw there was a small crack right next to the front intake rocker arm. Which mean i have to get a new one :(

Now for the question: I have a friend who has a spare VS700 engine, is it possible to take the complete "rocker arm cover/casing" and mount it on my bike, which, mentioned above is a VS750?

Best regard from DK

Yes you can, but you will have to drop the engine out of the frame. The faces are a machine finish fit with no gasket so make sure they are very clean with no nicks or dints which will cause an oil leak.

Thank you for your reply, then i don't have to search a long time to find a "new" used one

When you say faces then you mean number 42 on the picture, right

If you look at the diagram, part #1 is two pieces, and no gasket is shown between them:

The service manual says to use Suzuki bond no. 1216 on the mating surfaces in lieu of a gasket, but the surfaces have to be smooth and clean for a good seal.

Its not just for a good seal its half of the cam shaft bearing. Fitting an un mated part to an old part makes me squirm.

You need a new head.

Thank you everybody!
