Removing a Base Military Sticker

Post by MadCow »

I have a base sticker on my VROD on the fork. Used to be a requirement, they dropped that requirement a few years ago and now I have a sticker that is expired and useless...

Any tips on how to remove that gently?

Here's an example of what it looks like on the bike:

Thanks, I'll give that a shot...

When you say heat...hair dryer heat or a heat gun?

Heat gun works better but watch the paint. Your just trying to warm up the adhesive and make it tacky again.

Also, Goof-Off or believe it or not, Lighter fluid. Either of these will not harm paint, or any surface on your like.

I was simply offering up a little more information to those that may one day read this post and gain more knowledge. It's something else that works. [emoji41]

In the car dealerships when a military owner traded we had to take the decal off so that it could still be read in order for the soldier to turn it into the Provost Marshall as proof of destruction. We used a single edge razor blade with the edge curled up..We curled the edge by running it across the top of the car window length wise, as in from front to back and NOT top to bottom. .. Use the curled up edge AWAY from the metal and you won't scratch a thing. Made simple.. roll a window down about half way..single edges have a reinforcing spine, go from one end of the spine, with the edge in contact with the glass on ONE SIDE ONLY to the other dragging it across the top of the window. The curl will LIFT the decal off then use mineral spirits to take the adhesive off. Dave
