Cole Slaw, Who does it right

Post by Frankintruder »

Who has a good recipe for cole slaw? Kick ass cole slaw. Southern cole slaw. Not one of those online everyday recipes.

Your momas recipe that was her momas recipe.

Sweet and sour is okay. Creamy is ok. Just has to have that taste to it.

Thank you in advance.

Holy shit I cant believe there arent a lot of posts here.
Heres how I do cole slaw..

Green cabbage
red cabbage
onions
carrots

Cut them all slim and thin
use a mixture of viniger, mayonnaise and sugar that tastes good

mix it to have (I assume) a healthy crunchy delicious treat. I wish I had exact measurements of everything but only you know what you wanna eat.
Shoot for perfect, get great, think it's good

I hate cole slaw usually, but had this at a Zac Brown Band concert and it was delicious and easy. It's now one of my go-to's for potluck gatherings.

Zac Brown Pocketknife Cole Slaw
http://www.today.com/recipes/pocket-kni ... rp44109808

Ingredients
1 head Green Cabbage
1 large Green Bell Pepper
8 stalks Green Onion
2 ripe Tomatoes
2 cups Mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Hot Horseradish
2 tablespoons Yellow Mustard
1 tablespoon White Sugar
1/2 cup White Vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/2 teaspoon fine Ground Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Kosher Salt

1. Cut cabbage, pepper and tomatoes into 1/4-inch dice. Reserve a small handful of tomatoes and put rest of diced vegetables and scallions in a large bowl.
2. Combine mayonnaise, horseradish, mustard, sugar, vinegar, cayenne, pepper and salt. Just before serving, add half the dressing to vegetables and toss.

I do it the same way, equal parts vinegar and sugar, mayo to taste plus Old Bay to taste. [emoji106]
