Misc songs/videos Hard Rock to Heavy Metal
Queensryche came out while I was still in high school and many of their songs are among my favorites. This is the first song I heard from them and is still one of my favorites. You just have to not watch the video as it is corny as all hell.
Queen of the Reich
More to come when time permits...
More from Michael Schenker and MSG. The Assault Attack album.

Wow - not too many rockers here, huh?
Early Montrose - Sammy Hagar was an unknown then.

Yeah that song and Rock Candy. I had that album too at one time. Just about anything from the 70's, 80's and some 90's hard rock heavy metal for me. I could list tons of songs/artists. I am currently revisiting a lot of Megadeth songs.tc1400 wrote:Wow - not too many rockers here, huh?

I grew up with classic hard rock and metal. Huge early Van Halen fan. I don't care for today's crap through. Wife and I definitely don't relate with music. I had to be "a little more open minded" according to her. Pffft! I may be older now but so what.

My wife and I USED to listen to the same music. In the last 5-7 years she staterted listening to hip hop garbage or any music sung predominately by black musicians of which I cannot stand. Unfortunately that is only one area where we have grown apart lately.tc1400 wrote:I grew up with classic hard rock and metal. Huge early Van Halen fan. I don't care for today's crap through. I still love most of the stuff I listened to in HS and I really don't even give newer metal a chance. I don't listen to music at home and I certainly don't listen to music on the bike. Since I predominately ride the bike to and from work, that gives me precious little time to listen to anything at all. When I am forced to drive my car is when the music is on.

Keith, Dave - Yeah, we'll ride someday. Early Van Halen's kind of main stream but I can still relate well to it, among others. Forgot how good Queensryche was. Been a while since I heard that one.
Got a tractor mover to fix tonight. What fun.
Cult - Sonic Temple was such a bad ass album.

Re: Misc songs/videos Hard Rock to Heavy Metal
I still like rock okay. I'm weary of old WAY overplayed songs though. Hotel CA and Sweet Home Alabama are a couple examples.
I like the rock of the late 60s and all of the 70s up to about the mid 80s. I never got into heavy metal head slammin' stuff at all. I can't stand it when the singer is just screaming in the mic.
I ended up discovering Latina music and it did take a while to get used to some of it, but I listen to mostly the romantic stuff and there's a lot of really good content to be had and even if I don't understand all the words, I can pick up some of what's being sung. Once I became, 'acclimated' to it, it's just about all I ever listen to anymore because I just don't care for anything else that's coming out these days.
That's just me.

Ok, back on track with the topic.
Hear is another example of 80' hard rock. The entire album rocks. Dio's early days.
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell.
Die Young
From his days in Rainbow.
Man on the Silver Mountain.

Dio last in line - great tune. Dio R.I.P.
Your obviously much deeper into this than me. Of course, I'm considerably older. Could it be I'm mellowing out?

How old do you think I am? Of course I sort of gave it away, at least a range, when I stated some of those songs were from my HS days.tc1400 wrote:Dio last in line - great tune. Dio R.I.P.

What is considerably older? Name a song that came out when you were in HS that you were in to.

HS mid 70s. If you listened to Queensryche in HS, I figure that was around 1990-ish give or take. I do the math from there. No offense. Guess i'm a geezer who don't want to get old but has no choice. Montrose, UFO, Sabbath are examples of my HS days.

Re: Misc songs/videos Hard Rock to Heavy Metal
Since early 2000's this genre started getting too wierd for me so I stuck to what I like. My wife took a detour to country music. I tried to be 'open minded', seriously, but having a problem with it. I am what I am.

Back on track here. 80's? Motley Crue's a given. That's almost a thread in itself.

I like some of that stuff, but have never spent a penny on it. Now Dokken... I saw the Breaking the Chains tour. they had a few catchy songs but they degraded quickly into the stereotypical 'hair band' joke bands.tc1400 wrote:90's is where it gets fun. Like grunge?

Yeah, Crue, given.
