...and then he gets right back up and rides away without ever checking his bike!!!
There will be a time where you will no longer be able to use, "But...I didn't know!", as an excuse. And if you're exiled from society, well, you were warned.

I have a son-in-law who was screaming down the road on his dirt bike, as the sun disappeared below the horizon, trying to make it home on the back roads before if got too dark to see. A deer leaped out in front of him while he was at speed. He never even got the brake lever squeezed. He has no idea how long he was out, but woke up in the middle of the road hurting like hell. He got the bike up and running and managed to ride it home. He didn't want his wife (my daughter) to know how bad he felt, so he put up with all his pain until the next morning when he not only felt like death, but looked like it too. My daughter made him go to the doctor. He discovered he had a broken collar bone and 3 broken ribs - in addition to the multiple bruises, scrapes and scratches that were visible . That was about 7-8 years ago. He sold both his bikes and hasn't ridden a motorcycle since. That's probably a good thing in his case. He was always reckless and thought he was bullet proof. [emoji2]
