PVC for Fork Seals

Post by Cj5hardy »

Hello,
What diameter pvc pipe should I use as a fork seal driver and how long should I cut it? Thanks!

I used 1-1/2" PVC.
Get a two foot section from Home Depot for cheap, or cut one long enough to clear the tube.

Thanks alot. I just ordered the seals and a front tire. I have the pvc parts laying around. It beats paying $90!

I just used a piece of scrap 2-inch PVC and a hose clamp. I use the hose clamp to adjust the diameter of the PVC pipe. You'll feel and hear the difference when the seal seats down where it is supposed to be.

Thanks again for the help. I put the fork seals in today and it all went smooth. I rode around for 30 minutes and no leaks!

Buy the fork seal driver from motion pro.
It cost about 40 bucks and it allows you to change fork seals without removing the fork tubes from the bike.
This will save you two or three hours labor and save you from marking the tubes.

Thanks. It's been fixed. I've put 2k miles on it and the fork seals are good.
