Is there a way to rebuild the fuel pump on a vs800? the pump seems to click when I hit the start button. I have taken the outlet off and hit the start button but no fuel pumps out .

Probably the easiest fix is to get a new one. You can use a generic low pressure pump - search on eBay for cbr600 fuel pump. They're under $20.

Yes it can be tinkered with. Its a simple linear armature with make and break contacts. You can clean and bend them to make it work.

There are small pumps off cars that will work -I paid 15 dollars for mine. I walked in to a car spare parts shop and put it on the table. I ignored an comments like what is this off,( or in Thai --rot alai) she walked away with it and came back with a small pump off a Suzuki Caribbean ---an old 4 wheel drive car that is known to turn over a lot. Looks like a tiny little Range Rover.

This is the one you want:

I wouldn't be too keen on buying a second hand one.

They are bit tricky but its not rocket science. I took the armature return spring out of mine and fitted another type on the top of the armature that I can adjust. This means the fuel pump pressure can be adjusted as it directly relative to the armature return spring.
