Anyone ever go bigger on their front tire? I'd like to go with a fatter front tire. What size do you think I could safely go up to?

Stock is 80/90 r21

Not sure how wide you can go with the 21 but I run a 110 on my 19" wheel. I think the 21"'wheel is a little narrower so you may not be able to use a 110.

My data says the stock front tire is 100/90-19. Unless you have replaced the front wheel with one from '88 to '99.
Are you trying to make the bike less nimble? A wider front tire makes turn in just a little harder.

Well after looking at the bike I was wrong. It is a 100/90 19. And I just like the look of a beefy front tire.

I got the 87 Californi and its a 110. I could not get a 110 and settled for a 90. I was terribly dissapointed, it looked so narrow compared to the 110. I hope it wears out soon.

You are limited by the fender mounts on the forks, removing the fender and grinding down the lugs will give clearance for a wider tire. You will need to Google for the maximum safe tire width for the wheel rim. By removing the fender you are compromising the strength of the forks.
