Make sure you don’t have anything that has become stuck in the linkages. I once had a plastic clip come loose and slide down and wedge the throttle open. It was a real eye opener when I was testing it around the block and wacked the throttle open and found that it stayed that way!

Remove the tank and check the cable splitter up by the front air box.

Thank you Navigator and Forge. It was the back carb was completely stuck. some penetrating oil and a little wiggling back and forth got it to work.
I got this bike for $300 Bucks not sure how long it sat or whats wrong with it.

You should definitely lube the cables before one breaks.

$301 I might take you up on that offer depending on how it sounds if I can get it to run tomorrow. The fuel pump is bad will have to be replaced.

Do a search, I think Lechy found a cheap fuel pump, maybe ebay.

no deal yet. Got it to start this morning it ran for about 20 seconds then fuel started to poor out from what looks like the front air box. I think the front float is stuck. I used the fuel pump from my other Intruder to start it.

Be careful when buying a new pump. I got a cheapo one from the local bike store, around $12 US, made in China. Lasted a little over 2000 Km before it cratered. I got a replacement from an auto store for a small Mitsubishi, made in Japan, a little taller, had to cut off the mounting lugs but it fit. Cost about $50 US, been working fine for around 6000 Km.

thank's Lechy I found a guy parting out a vs700 here in California got a stock fuel pump for $15 . Hopefully after I Rebuild and put the carbs back on ,it will run better. I took the rubber boot off of the back carb. the old gas had varnished, it resembled Molasses .

If you need parts for a 700/750 let me know. I have some stuff left from the 700 I disassembled a while back. I planned to sell the parts that don't interchange with the 800 from the beginning but never got around to advertising any of it. A couple people have asked for things and I responded so some things have moved but I might have what you need if and when you need it. Good luck with the rebuild.
