1998 vs800 rear tire
Looking to buy new tires, and want something more wide on the rear than the stock 140/90-15. How wide can i go on the rear tire? If the stock size is as wide as i can go, is there any modifications i can do to to fit a more wide rear tire, maybe like a 170/80-15? I have a 1998 vs800 intruder

You can fit a 150, but only just.

Damn... thanks for the info! Does it matter how tall of a tire? Could I do the 150/90, or would I need to do a 150/80? Sorry for the stupid questions, this is my first road-bike, and Im not very educated on the topic

If you have the original shocks, it won't make any difference but if you have lowered the rear a higher profile could foul on the fender.

Re: 1998 vs800 rear tire
I have a 165/80 x15 car tire on the rear of my '99 vs800. No problems so far except for getting the tire to go on the rim. It takes a lot of psi to set the beads which is dangerous. I think the next time, which should be soon, I am going to try to force more air into the tire faster than use more psi. They sell a free flow air chuck that lets the air flow freely.
