94 vs800 - one pipe hot, one pipe cold

Bought a vs800 with a high idle. brought the idle down with the thumbscrew by the rear carb. I didn't notice it before (but it could be possible) that exhaust pipe gets real hot (coming from the front jug) and the rear is not nearly as hot -- but smells like gas. Can someone tell me what's wrong? Also, noticeable loss of response at the throttle especially in 2nd and third.

I did put aftermarket exhaust pipes, with mufflers - headers are stock.

It sounds like you need to sync the carbs.

Navigator, - I was about to, but when I removed the seat and tank I realized that the outlet tube that connects the rear air filter to the carb was dislodged - don't know how it happened or if it wasn't tightened before but I'm glad it was an easy fix. Thanks Navigator for your input
