Has the tank ever been coated inside? I have seen the sealants start coming apart but the ones I have seen were more white than grey.
I used por 15 sealer on the tank last year. Replaced the fuel lines with clear hose from lowes yesterday. Went on another 30 mile ride this morning. No new issues so far...

Are your filters staying clear/clean? That will be the tell.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
