What really scares me about carbs is making them function properly. What I mean by that is if I take it apart and something gets out of whack them I'm screwed. I don't have enough experience to know if I'm doing the reassembly correctly. I've read multiple write ups about bench syncing after cleaning and I don't know what they are refering to so I can't picture it in my head. Diaphragm carbs and lawnmower carbs I've disassembled so many times its like riding a bicycle but motorcycle carbs (especially dual carbs)just frighten me lol.navigator wrote:You can remove the bowl with the carb on the bike.
Undo the manifold clamp and flip it over. It may help to have the slider and spring removed
Drape a catch cloth under the carb to catch the pieces you drop.
Use a JIS with a handheld impact to break the screws loose.
From there you can clean the bowl and blow carb cleaner in all the holes.
Check your sync after reassembly.
It really is rather easy, it's all nuts and bolts after all just shaped differently.
I'll look at some diagrams to see what slider and spring your refering to.
I had to look up JIS-Japanese Industry Standard. I do have that. I had to show my dad the difference once, he thought Philips was the same.
