Speed

Post by JamesC »

What is the top speed of the 1400 Intruder? I really grabbed the throttle today and was able to get her just past 100 mph. If felt like she had a little more in her, but I'm getting old and don't want to spend the rest of my days laid up in traction. I'm just curious, have any of you fellows topped these babies out and how fast did you get it to go?

How did you arrive at that number? Did it happen to you?

That's roughly all there is, despite it feeling strong getting there, the intruder just runs out of power on the top end. It's a torque motor all the way. The magazines claimed 114 mph as the top speed. If the rider was the size of a horse jockey, maybe.

I get about 105 give or take. More if there's a wind behind me or I'm on a downhill run. That feels plenty fast on something like an intruder, something more sophistacated like an fjr and that speed feels like you're barely moving.

Top 170 km/h (105 mph). Though it feels like there's plenty more to give when you're at 85 mph. :putput:

My 88, 1400 is uncorked and I turned chicken just at 110 may be 109.

It was still going but I had enough.

My 87 would show 110 on the speedo. My 99 would/will do 110 by the stock speedo but when I ran it with a gps speedo it was an actual 106.

Odd thing is that running at 95 and crack it wide open it feels like it is going to do 150, then it just stops pulling.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

I've been told by my buddy who rides a rocket that i've had my intruder up to 120, although i always tell him i don't believe it. My speedo doesn't work anyway so I can't say for myself. Bike is uncorked and i have the Dyna 300 ign.
