Stock fuel line deterioration... Spill...
Smelled gas in garage, started looking around only to find fuel puddle under my red 97 1400.
Anyone ever find this issue on theirs?

Yep, ethanol gas fucks up ordinary fuel line, you gotta pay a little extra for the good stuff.

I would be going to a truck parts supplier and be asking for ethanol resistant fuel line. Aeroquip, Eaton, Parker are quality hose manufacturers, check out their online catalogs.

My experience has been that ethanol resistant line runs about $4 a foot whereas regular line is about 79 cents a foot.

The original lasted 20 years, not sure any of the other types of fuel line would last any longer.
Note that the problem is right where the fitting on the sub cock ends, the heat and vibration at that point are a bigger culprit than the hose and ethanol.
If I remember correctly that is the reserve hose and it doesn't get the fuel flow that helps keep the line cool.

Hasn't been run in 3 years? Gas sitting in the line will go bad and really rot the hose.BRONX INTRUDER wrote:Thanks again brothers.

Does anyone know if there is a place that sells VS1400 OEM fuel lines in a set? Just so I don't miss a line when I order.
