Brass welsh plugs and covers..
Would it be a safe assumption that the A/F screws covers and Welsh plugs are always made of brass? Dave

No, the ones on my 800 were some kind of soft metal but not brass.

Thank you Lechy.. just trying to get a leg up on where they are on the `1400.. Clymer doesn't show and neither does the manual we can down load.. I reckon the best thing is to look at the carb parts diagrams... I believe in knowing before diving in .. Dave

Here is a pic of the needle, with the plug removed, on the front carb. I can't find one of the rear carb, thought I had it. I will take one of the rear carb tomorrow and post it if someone doesn't beat me to it.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Here ya go, front is on the LH side, rear is on the RH side as you sit on the bike (VS 800).
Hey Herb, a little WD40 wouldn't go amiss.

Lechy, thank you so very much.. This is the FIRST time anyone has ever shown where they are located.. Manuals don't show it, either factory or Clymer. even Youtube is amiss... I was going to use the carb diagram to see the location with the problem most of the diagrams don't call it an air or fuel screw... Just a screw.. Dave

Here is a link to a post I made a while back, carb synch for all Intruders, scroll to the bottom for info on setting the AF.
