Restore -OR- Revamp
So.. This is a new project i aquired. Picked up from JamesC in Jersey the other day. I wont begin on it til July when i'm back home in PA.
In the meantime; while visiting fam in the BX.. I have some time to think about what i want to do with her. I either fix and restore.. Leaving stock colors and all... Or i break her down and revamp.
Obviously fix and restore would be quicker and easier.. But that's not always the best.. And sometimes it is. Lol.
What do you brothers think? What would you do?

I say restore. It's a nice base to work from.

Re: Restore -OR- Revamp
That's a pretty clean 20 year old bike, always nice to see an original if you go that route.
On the other hand.. I see potential in intruders, whatcha thinkin?

Since you asked, I would say restore. Nice looking bike, not that much damage, and as the years go by less and less original bikes available. I would change the exhaust to original, since they don't look stock, and get the front-end damage fixed...and you should have a near perfect bike.

******* Happy Fathers Day Brothers *******
Welp.. As a few of you stated and i was thinking.. It's in pretty good shape with ninimal damage aside from front-end. Would be a lot of work to redo things that don't need redone. Had she been a total mess.. Would be no question in revamping so i'm going to just restore her.
I have others i can toy with on a deeper level very soon so i'll have some fun and a nice lil time making this one up to be her pretty own self again.
Thanks all for your input and i will continue adding info as i begin and finish her starting in July.

I vote for restore with minor mods, like maybe ape hangers, 12 inchers, or 10 inchers

Did a front fender come with the bike, or was it too damage?

Re: Restore -OR- Revamp
Front fender was damaged as suspected.
Thanks brothers.. I will be restoring her. She is pretty and not in need of the attention a revamp would call for.
I saw this guy listing a vs1400 on ebay several times for 1,000 and then dropped to 500 bid or buy now 1,000.. it was crap and would definitely call for a revamp without question. lol. Think he finally got rid of it or just quit and it will rot in his shed. Shame.

Bronx, make an offer on this bike and have it shipped to you. It's been listed for quite a while.

I'm giving more and more serious thought to chopping mine. I've been comparing the Seeger and AME kits 'ad infinitum'BRONX INTRUDER wrote:the chopper I have to finish
I like the price of the Seeger and the better instructions, but I like the different sizes/angles they offer on the AME and that they list what all it comes with...
