How would this work with the cable operated intruders as I have 1 and I would love too move the controls further forward....
The whole process is eas enough in my eyes.....
Just want to know if anyone has done this with the cable operated intruder....

I'm resurrecting this thread because I'd like more info on this.

My single biggest complaint about the 1400 Intruder is the peg crossbar/bracket touching down in turns. It touches down before the pegs do and I would prefer a "soft" touchdown before a "hard" touchdown. Even with the wife on the back, we do like to enjoy turns now and again (we came from much sportier bikes, sure we've slowed down a lot but still like to enjoy the rollercoaster once in a while).

I'm also not that tall, about 5'8", so the only forward controls that I've felt that I really like are the Rizoma's that are on my bike now. They don't move the pegs super far forward, but it's a nice comfortable extension without making me totally straighten my leg out. The only problem is that they utilize the stock bracket, so the scraping problem isn't eliminated.

Does moving this bracket forward change the touchdown point? I.e. does something else scrape before the bracket does after moving it forward? And if so, what scrapes first? And does anyone have any pics of this mod since IA is dead and the pics in this thread are dead?

P.S. I'm in the metal fab business so having the plate made is duck soup....

Also wondering.. Have you lowered the bike? You shouldn't be touching ground like that.. Lol.

And to answer: I believe the angle of bike relative to ground will dictate weather or not it will improve ground clearance. Meaning if battery box is closer to ground than controls.. As if you were about to take off into sky.. Pushing fwd will increase that ground clearance. If however it is level.. Pushing fwd will not enhance clearance.

Nope bike is stock.

Maybe we just need to slow down. We came from sport and adventure bikes where we used to haul butt and really get over in the corners. When we switched to cruisers, we started with an Intruder. Eventually we got a Star Warrior just for the lean angle. Rode every cruiser at the motorcycle show and found the Warrior to be the one that could turn the sharpest, so we went out and bought one. Rode it for a few years. Now we've come back to an intruder because they are so much lighter and I just like the riding position more. If I could just solve this scraping issue.

I did find forwards that only move the pegs about 6.5" and they eliminate the crossbar. But they are about a grand. I will probably buy them which is financially stupid given the value of these bikes, but then again bikes aren't exactly good investments anyways so what the hell. [emoji2]

On stand.. How high off ground is bracket?
Maybe you just need new suspension to eliminate sag?

If you bolt the bracket on top of the plate, you are going to raise it the thickness of the bracket. About 3/4 inch, not only that but you will be moving it forward to where there is, usually, a little more ground clearance.

I'm really interested in this idea. I'm keen to extend my controls a measly 4" or so forward so this seems a great, cheap way to achieve that.
Has anyone else gone down this path? Got photos?
