Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
The springs from Winter's Machining on Ebay work great too FYI. Fixed the late and very abrupt friction point, now it's very smooth, linear, and easy to control. Grabby clutch sucks, now that's history. I'm sure Designer's springs do the same.

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
I know that Designer's springs work VERY well.
When I installed them on my 99 they worked well from the start. No grabbing, very smooth.
I have put well over 200,000 miles on them, in 2 engines and they are working well right now, no slippage or other performance issues.

I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Installed designes springs to my 1400. Man.. These are just awesome. Shift immediately started to respond like it was brand new and no more slipping. I really need to practice shifting again to avoid wobbling, front wheel will get "lighter" with these babies!
GOD JOB DESIGNER!
Highly recommend, worth of every penny.

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
I fought the slipping clutch on my 87 for 154,000 miles, changing the damn things out every 13-15K. I bought my 99 in 2001 with 8700 on the odometer, by 13K it was slipping really bad and I changed the springs.
Mentioned to my son that I was thinking about buying a set of designer's springs for the next time just to try them. My son bought them for me for my B-day and the next time it started slipping in installed them. I really didn't expect the kind of performance that I got.
The bike had about 24K on it when I installed them. Ran them for almost 180K on that engine, swapped out the engine for a used one, and put the springs in the used engine. The springs now have about 220K on them and when I was riding it this morning I can nail the throttle if 70 and still get NO slippage.
I won't say that the springs were the best B-day present I ever received but they damn sure are in the top 5.

Designer, tried to PM you but the forums only give me the option to email you. I'd like to buy 2 sets of clutch springs.

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
I've got 2 1400s now. The $375 one I'm gonna fix and give to my best man for my wedding (new rider), and another I just bought today for myself for $750 running with paperwork. Gonna sell the 800 in the spring.
The new bike I bought needs a new stator, figured I might as well change out the clutch plates and throw in new springs since I'll be right there.

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
Appreciate it! Dropped the foot control brackets off both bikes today and drained the oil. The second bike needs a new starter solenoid as well (did the same thing as the first bike but I was able to jump the solenoid more successfully to confirm the bike turns over). Now the second bike needs the new stator. Time to order parts!

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
Hi,
Been hearing only the best about the designer clutch springs, yet I can’t find them anywhere, does anyone know where I could get my hands on them, for my 1400? Or if they’re discontinued?
Thanks

That’s great news, I just joined this site yesterday and it says I can’t yet access PMs because it’s too early, if it’s not too much trouble, my email is Kaemon5515@gmail.comDesigner wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 7:51 amYes, I've sent my Springs out to 32 Countries Worldwide,.....several to Sweden, in fact.Kaemon1400 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 7:07 amHi, I don’t know much about where to get these, if you get them in stock I’d love to buy some thanks, only heard the best about them, if you’re able to send them to Sweden that is

I’d be more than happy to buy some of your springs, otherwise I’ll wait until I can access PMs, no worries either way.

Are your PMs working again? Make sure to test them out.
Everyone else that sees this,
Send a PM to Designer as a test.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

Re: Designer High Performance Clutch Springs
Designer, how much are your springs and bolts for the 1400? I need to know if I need to stash cash back or if they're cheap enough I can buy them.
