VS1400 Handlebar risers

Post by Acton67 »

So on both bikes I'm working on I had issues with bolts breaking off in the handlebar risers. These are part number 56220-38B10 that are on models t/v/w/x. Tried removing the broken bolts with easy outs with no luck. Eventually drilled them out then tried using heli coils. Only problem with that is I couldn't get the holes dead center, so the clamps won't sit on the risers correctly.

I bought a new set of risers on ebay but they're a different style, similar to what I saw on the vs800. Those are from models Y/K1/K2/K3. The part number on them are 56231-38A50 and 56221-38A01. There's plenty of them on ebay. I can't find any of the 56220-38B10 risers on ebay. Will the risers off the Y/K1/K2/K3 bike fit on the T/V/W/X steering stem?

Anyone have a set or two sets of the 56220-38B10. I've got two vs800 tanks I could trade. Can pay a reasonable amount for them. Otherwise hopefully I can use the Y/K1/K2/K3 style risers on these bikes.

The ones you have on the bikes are internally wired with a straight steel bushing. (56220-38B10 that are on models t/v/w/x.)
The ones you bought for models Y/K1/K2/K3, are externally wired and have tapered rubber bushings.
The the risers off the Y/K1/K2/K3 bike will not fit properly on the T/V/W/X steering stem unless you change the upper triple trees.

However the 98 VS800 takes the 56220-38B10 riser and any of these should fit your trees.

Thanks for linking me those! I could only find the $100 set and $88 set in my search. Was hoping to use the other style risers I had considering the price of what I was finding. I bought the $50 set you linked. Not sure why I couldn't find those. As always I appreciate the help!
