Crank case crank shaft bearing?

Post by HAGARMOTO »

Hello my friends, hope you are well!

I am in need of some guidance from those who are in the know. Currently, Helga my 1997 14 is undergoing a full engine rebuild...I won't bore you with the details here, but while pulling all the crank case bearings, I have come across one that I can't seem to locate online to replace.

It is, I believe to be, the crank case crankshaft bearing (race/outer). It has what I can only describe as a brown, almost Teflon type material coating on the inner where the crankshaft would sit.

I have dug into every online corner I can think of to try and find a replacement for the case as it is going in for vapour blasting and it will need to be removed for this process, or risk material being stuck under it or in oil passageways surrounding it etc.

I have attached imagery for reference, if anyone has any ideas on where I can find a replacement, or even if the name I have given it is in fact correct, or if I am barking up completely the wrong tree, please let me know.

Thanks for your time!
H.

I have no idea what you need and will never see that much of an engine in real life but........

Here is the link to a good parts diagram that may help you find the part number.
https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/suzuk ... /crankcase

Here is the link to Zippers Performance Products. If you go to their contact page they may be able to get you something that fits.

I am sure someone else will chime in later with something better.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

They appear to be the main crankshaft bearings and should just pull out, on the back should be the part number. I believe the color denotes whether the bearing is standard or oversized.
I'm not very conversant with the 1400's, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon.
Grow old disgracefully young man.

I believe it's 12229-38B00. Used on the 1500's as well.

Hillsy, thanks so much fir this! I came across a similar diagram on MSP but could nit confirm if it was intact the same without an image like the second one you've provided! Big thanks for your assistance! And pleasantly surprised at their price tag which makes a change from the usual overpriced stock parts.
Best wishes!
H.

I never knew that about the colour coating! That's great to know Lechy. Thanks for taking the time.

Best wishes,
H.
