Herb, try running on oil containing Teflon friction modifiers, see how far you get.

I know that can be a problem but considering that the owners manual just specifies 10w40 I use it.

HOWEVER, no matter what an oil can do the issue with these bikes is the stock springs are junk.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
