My Bike: 1996 suzuki intruder vs1400

bike dead no horn

bike starts and idles like a champ but when put in gear it spits studders and dies or just dies...on another subject my horn when button is pressed is only reading 2v any thoughts

I would pull and charge the battery first.

Then clean up or bypass the kickstand switch.

Just where are you measuring that 2V? Battery power should be applied to one side of the horn, and the horn button grounds the other side.

If it starts and then dies going into gear could the issue be the clutch. I say bleed the clutch or if it has been over two years since you changed the fluid completely change out the fluid. Just don't let the master cylinder go dry.

I would always check the battery first, but my second guess was the side stand (I forgot that one a few times) or clutch.

So, the switch side of the horn? If so, then the switch is not properly grounded, or is too dirty, or maybe the wire is failing. Voltage at the switch side of the horn should be very close to 0V.
